Don’t Be Like The Rest Of Them, Darling

After turning 30 I turned to this season of really trying to discover myself. When I started blogging I really wanted to try to be like the rest of the bloggers out there that I was following. The New York bloggers and their super cool street style, their expensive brands and their sparkly lives. In my early 20’s that just seemed so exciting. But now that I’m 30, thinking about starting a family and moving to a farm next year, that life seems way less exciting to me.

I’ve had this closed off “vision” of blogging that was more or less just following the trends and rules that other people have set. So right now I’m really loving trying out new things, new photoshoot ideas, new post ideas and really trying to think outside of the box I put myself in. Which is exciting, and a little overwhelming at the same time. But still, as I scroll through Instagram and see what other bloggers are doing this holiday season I do go back down that rabbit hole. I get a little bit of anxiety about doing gift guides and fancy holiday home decor posts. But I just keep reminding myself that I don’t HAVE to be like the rest of them. I am going to share some holiday home decor, holiday shopping and holiday outfits like the rest, but I don’t have to be like everyone else, nor do I want to. And I hope you guys do love what I share!

So, my thoughts for today, and this holiday season, is don’t be like the rest. Be like you. I think this season puts so much pressure on us. To give the elaborate gifts, throw the big parties, send the perfect Christmas card, be the best dressed, have picture perfect Christmas decor, show up to EVERYTHING and pack your calendar to the brim. But, don’t. Do what’s best for you this holiday season and ENJOY! One of my New Years Resolutions for 2017 was to simplify, and I think I’ve actually done a really great job of it this year. While I’m not always on top of my game, I do think simple is best. And I’m really reminding myself of that this holiday season.

P.S. On an outfit note, I’m OBSESSED with these pink velvet booties. I snagged them from a Zara sale so these exact ones aren’t available anymore but I found some very similar ones from Steve Madden for $25!!! And I’m thinking about scooping them up as well! (Scratch that, I did purchase before I posted this post!) I’ve already worn these so much that they’re starting to show some wear, so might as well, right?! Annnd they also have a leopard pair for $55 that are almost too good to resist as well!
