Soooo I opened a store this week! A real life, full blown, cute as can be retail store! What?! This crazy little idea my best friend came up with (to keep me from moving to NYC, I might add) is happening. We brainstormed last December, bought our first merchandise in January, hosted our first trunk show in March and opened a Pop-Up Shop in September — this crazy little dream is actually happening and I could not be more excited! This year has felt like a whirlwind and as I look back on everything it kind of freaks me out. In an amazing, I-can’t-believe-this-is-real-life way of course.
As with anything, this new (kind of huge) addition to my life has majorly shifted my priorities. I sometimes get the feeling that my little heart doesn’t have enough room to hold all the things I want to love in there and that can get discouraging. I’ve been feeling guilty for not giving ample attention to Pearls & Twirls lately because this little space of the web is something that I truly enjoy creating and honestly I wish I had lots more time to spend over here. But the reality is I’ve got waaayyy too much going on right now. I love those quotes that are all, “stop glorifying busy” because I agree. We shouldn’t be busying ourselves up so much that we can’t enjoy life. I hate not having time to go to the lake with my friends or spend my evenings drinking rose on a patio (is this what everyone does or just the people I follow on instagram?) but the truth is I LOVE all the things that make me busy! I love blogging and the person that blogging has made me. I love being a coach and passing my skills and passion onto sweet girls that always brighten my day. And I have loved every moment of starting a business. But I’m kind of feeling a little over committed these days (because I also have a full time job, ya know to pay the bills and cover the stress shopping). As I continue trying to figure out this crazy balancing act right now I just ask that you bear with me. Pearls & Twirls will always be a priority but posting may slow down at times, it may speed up at times and things may even change around here! Who knows!
This weekend I’m majorly looking forward to slowing down, celebrating the Grand Opening of My Kind of Lovely’s Pop-Up Shop, and I may even be playing hooky from work on Monday to do a little re-charging. So thank you for your patience this week. I always appreciate when bloggers are real with their readers and I wanted to share a little bit about what’s been going on behind the scenes over here. I’ll be back next week with new outfits and some fun stories! Stay tuned!
