Heart Happy Vol. 2

Happy Friday! We’re back with a few things that are making me happy this week but before we kick off the Friday goodness a little background on today’s picks.

On Monday I realized that this time last year I was going through a pretty tough break up. A Carrie and Aiden break up if you get my jist…and while I’m not currently going through a “breakup” this week I found myself facing somewhat of another really tough, life changing decision on my hands (more on that next week). When I realized this week was going to be a doozie, I really tried to find as much quiet time as possible and really focus in on things that make me happy, keep me motivated and remind me that I’m doing me.

Inspiring Words:

Quotes, bible verses, poems and song lyrics kind of fill my heart up. (I try to refrain from posting too many on instagram every day but there are a TON of my favorites on Pinterest.) They give me inspiration, motivation and most of all strength. It’s impossible to be everything, all the time, but there’s something about the right words strung together that can totally turn my day around.

  • This week’s bible verse: Matthew 11:28-29 – “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
  • Character inspiration: “The best people possess a feeling for beauty, the courage to take risks, the discipline to tell the truth, the capacity for sacrifice. Ironically, their virtues make them vulnerable: they are often wounded, sometimes destroyed.” -Ernest Hemingway // Lately I’ve had to continually remind myself that all I can do is me. Be the best I can be and choose to do the right things for myself. This often makes us very vulnerable and will never keep us from getting hurt. But that’s ok. A feeling for beauty, the courage to take risks, the discipline to tell the truth and the capacity for sacrifice are all virtues I strive for.
  • Reading: 9 Tips for Traveling Alone. As I’ve gotten older I’ve really learned to value my time to myself. We live in a world where being “alone” is a negative thing and I think a lot of people never truly get to know themselves. I feel extremely lucky to be exactly where I am right now and think my next adventure might just need to be a little getaway all by myself. Now, I don’t think I’m up for a month in France but a long weekend in a new, fun city sounds right up my alley! Adding to my 2015 goals!

Tunes:

I’m pretty serious about my love for music. There’s something about finding new artists and songs that is so rewarding for some reason. A lot of times I feel most like myself when I’m listening to a song that I can feel, not just listen to, not to mention the right song is an instant mood booster! I just updated my spotify Playlist with my current November loves.

Currently topping the list as my #1 pick me up is Hold On by Alabama Shakes.

“So, bless my heart and bless my mind.
I got so much to do, I ain’t got much time
So, must be someone up above saying,
Come on, girl! Yeah, you got to get back up!
You got to hold on…
Yeah, you got to hold on…”

 Style:

One of my favorite things about being a blogger is that with every change in the season I get to take a look back at what I have in my closet that I may be forgetting about! I’ll admit I was NOT ready for this week’s cold front and found myself really confused about how to dress for 30 and 40 degree weather. Luckily my blanket scarf and my archives have come to the rescue for a little cold weather weekend inspiration!

Today I broke out the mint coat – check out last year’s post here.

And it looks like I need to find my winter hats! They are such a cute addition to any outfit!
