Ok ya’ll today we’re digging a little deeper than usual but it’s something that I’ve been really working on. What does it mean to have a positive mindset? I used to think it just meant having a positive outlook on life. Good things will happen to me, I see the glass half full, I know everything happens for a reason, everything will work out, etc. This is a good start but not even the tip of the ice burg.
I’ve realized I was much more of a positive outcome kind of person and not so much a positive mindset kind of person. So I’m great at saying, oh yeah it’ll all work out, everything’s great! While actually deep down I’m really hard on myself and really negative. So if you think “it’ll all work out” but don’t believe in yourself enough to make it all work out, how does it work out?!?
What Is a Positive Mindset?
Positive mindset people truly believe in themselves. They don’t have negative thoughts about themselves and they don’t talk down to themselves. They say, “I am successful”, “I will reach my goal”, “I can do this.” On the flip side, they don’t say, “I’m not good enough,” “No one cares what I have to say,” “I’ll try and see what happens.”
Positive mindset people are confident and they try, they work, they aren’t afraid to fail and they keep trying.
It’s honestly been a pretty tough realization and it’s been something that’s been hard, but it’s also been very freeing to work on. Being nice to yourself and pushing yourself to fail and figure it out instead of telling yourself you’re not good enough to even try in the first place?! It feels good. Believe it or not, failing can be a good feeling. And if you aren’t so dang scared of it, you might just feel like you can conquer anything!
So today, if you feel like going after something but you keep telling yourself something negative. Silence that voice, tell yourself you can do it, and go for it. It’s the best thing you can do for yourself today!
