Surprise! We’re Pregnant!

You’ve probably already seen the news on social media, but we’re so excited for this next chapter! The past few years have felt like a whirlwind and I’d say that wont slow down anytime soon! But with big moves, career changes, and now a baby on the way life feels quite crazy and I guess, I wouldn’t have it any other way! 😉

pregnancy announcement

I thought I’d answer some frequently asked questions here and share a little more of our story!

When are you due?!

December 12 is the official due date. I’m so excited to have a newborn to snuggle this Christmas!

Do you know the gender?

We don’t! As of right now we’re not going to find out the gender. I think it will be such a special surprise that I literally couldn’t be more excited to find out!!

How can you wait to find out the gender?!

Honestly, I’ve loved when friends have done it, I’ve always thought wow, what a cool surprise to find out when you actually have the baby in your arms. One friend said, you’re never truly surprised anymore as an adult and this is a really big surprise! And I just loved that! I’m also not a huge planner and love surprises so it really doesn’t bother me. I think it’s cool to know while baby is still in the womb, but I also think it’s really cool to find out when he/she is here.

How are you feeling?!

Honestly I’m feeling great now!! The first trimester was a whirlwind! I actually had my first OB appt the same day I passed my real estate exam, so essentially I started a whole new career in my first trimester which was a little wild. I was really exhausted, I had to really watch my diet (some foods made me feel terrible) and it was just a lot all at once. But once I hit the 13 week mark I was like- wow I feel like myself again! This is fabulous! And now, I’ve almost forgotten how hard that first trimester was already ha!

When did you start telling people?

We told my parents, Jared’s grandfather & my best friends after our first appointment at 8 weeks. Then we waited until my 12 week appt to really start telling friends/family, and then waited until Addi was here to tell her and then made our social media announcement at 18 weeks. Everyone’s different and you just have to do what’s best for you.

Is Addi excited to be a big sister?

She was shocked when we told her – it was actually really funny!! I guess she always thought she would be an only child! But yes, she is excited. She really wants a sister, but I know she’ll be a great big sister to a brother or a sister! She’ll come and spend a week with us after Christmas so we’re excited for her to have lots of big sister time with baby when he/she is still a newborn!

Was it planned?

Yes and no. We knew we didn’t want to wait too long to start a family and that is part of the reason for the move to Madisonville. I honestly knew I would never be “ready” so we decided to try for a year to see what happened and then re-evaluate if it didn’t happen naturally. I know so many women currently walking through miscarriages, infertility, going through IVF, or conceiving through IVF who have had to make a lot of really hard choices and sacrifices to get to their sweet baby. This blessing is not lost on me, I feel extra, extra grateful for our little bundle. Everyday I’m reminded what a miracle a baby truly is. We are so grateful God has blessed us with becoming parents together!
