Time has been flying by lately. Anyone else feel this way? There are so many things I want to do, so many ideas I have and so much that I actually love working on that I feel I don’t have time for. Not to mention there are so many fun things I want to do! Now that I have so much more energy on a daily basis I want to fill my plate even more full! I want to go and do and work on all the things but I know all of that isn’t possible. We need rest and we simply can’t do all the things. So how do we choose? How do make the most of our time?
This summer I’m really working on becoming more intentional with my time. I really want to be that person that can balance all the things but I truly think only people who are super intentional about their time can do this. So I thought I’d share a little more about how I’m planning to make the most of the rest of my summer and be productive, yet still enjoy these gorgeous summer days.
- Workout in the mornings. I’m really trying to become a morning person, but if I can get my butt out of bed between 7-8 and workout then it’s a success. (Hoping to work my way up to 7am workouts everyday but most days it’s closer to 8 ha!) If I’ve worked out and showered and am ready for my day that’s one thing checked off the list and I typically feel energized for a productive day. And sometimes even have the evening off and can hang by the pool!
- Schedule tasks. I juggle a lot of things between work and the blog and it’s really easy to get overwhelmed and put things off or procrastinate because I don’t know what to work on. I’ve been giving myself deadlines for those dreaded things I don’t want to work on and it seriously works wonders! Lately I’ve been giving myself 1 hour to get an email inbox down to x amount of emails and it literally works every time! I’ve also been scheduling time for the blog which was really helped. If I block out “blog office work” from 9-11 on Tuesdays and Thursdays it’s a great time to get caught up on things I’ve been putting off.
- Stop The Mindless Scrolling. Ya’ll social media on the phone is so addictive. I know I check it often and a lot of times for no reason. It’s so annoying! I recently downloaded the moment app which tracks your screen time on your phone and it’s been a huge eye opener. I’ve since turned off a lot of notifications and try to stop with the mindless/time sucking phone time. I try to open and respond to a text message and put the phone back down without also opening instagram, facebook, snapchat…. Just think what all I could accomplish if I even got half of that phone time back!
- Get Out of the House on the Weekends. I tend to, when I’m home, catch up on things around the house when I don’t have anything to do. Laundry, cleaning up, clean out the closet, etc. Or I’m like oh yay, a full day to work on the blog! And will sit behind the computer (on my day off) with the sun shining outside. I’m really trying to get out of the house and go do fun things on the weekends. Such a silly one, but sometimes we need to remember to get out! Enjoy! That to-do list will be there on Monday and will be just fine!
Not sure if ya’ll are like me and sometimes feel you’re working your days away but I’ve really enjoyed the past two weekends kayaking with Jared. We’re both starting to get busier as the summer is closing in but I’m definitely trying to practice the whole “work smarter, not harder” approach so we can have as much time together as possible! So please, if you have any tips on becoming more intentional with your time, pass them along! I’d love to hear!
