Today I’m sharing a day to night look that’s super easy and something that’s almost necessary around the holidays. Lately my weeknight schedule has been so jam packed I’ve been living out of my car (more than usual) and you’re sure to find a couple pairs of shoes, lots of jewelry and an extra pair of workout clothes (just in case) all shoved in a bag somewhere in my car. So on days that I’ve got something extra special planned after work it’s important to have a plan of action for how you’re going to do that switch-a-roo from business casual to a flawless party attire outfit.
First I’m starting with the day look that I wore on Friday to my work Christmas party. Now, I know what you’re thinking, jeans at a work Christmas party?! And this definitely won’t work for everyone as I’m sure your work Christmas party isn’t during work hours at a bar with beer and pizza like mine is, BUT it does work for casual Friday at work when you have something a little more fancy to go to afterwards.
Since my workplace is pretty casual and most everyone wears jeans pretty regularly I kept my look casual with a flannel button down and my favorite flares and dressed it up by pairing my flannel with some sparkle.
And since the weather has been so unpredictable lately this scarf basically stays in one of those bags in my car or in my purse just in case I need an extra layer, or a blanket…
Day look: Gap coat | Old Navy Flannel | J.Crew sequin top (love the stripe version) | Citizens of Humanity jeans | Zara scarf | Zara tote | Loren Hope earrings
For night the night look I kept it pretty simple because when you’re changing after hours (at least for me) we want it to be easy! So here all I’ve done is swap out the jeans for a festive skirt and tights and you’re good to go!
I also changed up the look by buttoning my flannel top all the way up to give it a little more of polished look and threw my hair up into a high pony to give it a more playful vibe. And not to mention, long hair on sequins all day gets quite annoying!
I also made sure to keep the day’s jewelry simple with just my Loren Hope earrings and a few rings. I’m also a pretty minimal makeup person. I always keep some powder, mascara, blush and concealer on hand for touch ups and always keep my lips of the day (is that a thing? #lotd? I think it should be…) super close by!
Like I said before, just in case, the scarf always comes in handy even if it’s just wrapped for an extra layer!
Night look: Old Navy Flannel | J.Crew sequin top (love the stripe version) | ASOS skirt (old but this one is very similar) | Old Navy tights | J.Crew pumps | Zara scarf | Loren Hope earrings
One more thing that helps me take my look from day to night is easy access tanning from Sun Tan City! I’m totally a Versa girl and love my weekend spray tans to keep me party ready throughout the week, and Sun Tan City is currently running their free tan week special! Oh gorgeous! I absolutely love the day look. Perfect and just my style. I love how you transitioned it to an evening appropriate ensemble still keeping that perfect plaid~sequin combo in tact.
You have such great taste, Katie! Now I may have to head over to J.Crew Factory and scoop up that striped sequin top;)
