The biggest of Heart Happy-s is today’s! My little business I dreamed up last year with my best friend turned ONE! We wanted to celebrate My Kind of Lovely’s success with friends, family and our customers so as a huge thank you we threw a birthday party at the store complete with cupcakes & lemonade, a fun photo booth, special discounts and killer swag bags! We had such a fun time planning and getting the store ready for our celebration and couldn’t be more excited about how the event turned out!
Most of the time owning and running your own business is like running around in the dark. You don’t know what you’re doing, where you’re headed and you definitely don’t know what you’re about to run into head on. Somehow over the past year we’ve figured things out just fine, we’ve taken each obstacle with a chuckle and we treat every mistake as a lesson learned and just keep on. It’s definitely been one the hardest and most rewarding years of my life and I can happily say without a doubt that this is what I’m supposed to be doing.
I often hear people excited about their dreams and hopes for the future but are so filled with fear they can’t even take the first step. My advice to you? Do it. Go for it and don’t look back. If you want it bad enough you’ll make it happen. This time last year I was working 40 hours at my 9-5 job, blogging and hosting 10-15 Trunk Shows with MKL a month. It was hard. It was exhausting. But it was totally necessary to get us where we are today! Now, we’ve opened a storefront, have hired employees, have a website and I’ve quit my job and work full time for myself. Was is scary? Hell Yes! Was it worth it? Absolutely. Every doubt. Every mistake. Every late night. Every tear. Every. Single. Part. Was totally worth it.
I’ll do a full Birthday Party recap next week but today, while I’m feeling inspired and accomplished, I just wanted to share a little behind the scenes. I want us all to live our dream lives so if there’s something you want to do, or something you’ve been dreaming up, stop talking about it and do it! There’s no such thing as the perfect time to do things, just take the first leap and keep going!
This is so awesome! Congratulations you two–that’s an amazing accomplishment! Also, I seriously never knew you had a store. Just checked out your website, and you have some beautiful pieces! Really, really nice clothing.
