Beauty Talk: The Basics

I don’t talk much beauty around here because I by no means consider myself a beauty girl. Although lately I’ve been trying out lots of new products and have also been loving lots of new products so I thought it would be fun to start a new “Beauty Talk” series to share my recent favorites! Today we’re starting with the basics.

Shampoo & Body Wash

Beauty Routine Musts_

I’m usually pretty basic when it comes to shower products. I’m all about the affordable drugstore buys but have definitely stepped up my game. I just recently received the HASK Macadamia Oil shampoo & conditioner and I love. They leave my hair feeling lightweight and silky and smelling like a million bucks! It seriously feels and smells like nice shampoo yet they’re available at Ulta for $5.99 each! And the St. Ives body wash is a great one on it’s own but I’m in love with the Pear and Soy sent. So good.

Face

Beauty Routine Musts_-2

I’m always trying new face products out and am very rarely loyal until recently. I was introduced to Dermalogica at SBS Con and I’m hooked on their products. Right now I’m just using the Precleanse and the Microfoliant but my skin is looking the best it has in a while! The preclenase removes all makeup and dirt and is actually meant to be used with a cleanser following. I’m not currently doing that but would like to also try their cleanser out as well. Then I follow with the Microfoliant which is a daily exfoliator and I swear it’s an instant skin brightener! And I always finish with an oil for a moisturizer. I’m obsessed. And luckily I have a friend who’s just as obsessed and has started making her own face oils. So Alex’s magic face oil is on the right and Physician’s Formula’s Argan Oil is on the left which I also use and love.

Can’t Live Without’s

I also have a little section of my daily can’t live without’s that I keep around at all times. First is St. Ives spray lotion. I hate lotion. I hate the feeling on my hands so this solves all my lotion problems! It is a light mist spray that leaves little to rub in which is perfect, quick & easy. Next, if there’s one product I go through like candy, it’s Batiste’s dry shampoo. Even on clean hair it’s a great texturizing spray and on dirty hair it’s the best absorbent. And back to HASK hair, I love these little hair oil viles. I also love hair oil to smooth and these are only $3! Perfect for travel and for those of us who don’t wash our hair too often.

Little Luxuries

My friend brought back a bottle of the Coqui Coqui bath oil from Tulum and it’s so heavenly! I’m not really a bath person but this oil totally made me one. It’s quite amazing and the Orange Blossom scent is so good. This one is definitely a little pricy but it’s so luxurious! Library of Flowers is a soon to be addition to My Kind of Lovely and I can’t stop wearing this creme perfume! Just a little touch on the wrists and you’re beautifully smelling all day long and how cute is that little tin to keep in your purse?!
