28

Today is my 28th Birthday!

Sometimes I get so in my everyday groove of blog posts, outfit posts, shopping posts, instagram posts that I forget to slow down and celebrate the little things. I’m really trying to get better at this so today I wanted to slow down and take a day to celebrate another year!

Yep, celebrate getting older. One less year in my 20s and another year closer to 30.

I’m not really one of those people who hates getting older, getting closer to 30 or growing up. After all, age is just a number and I don’t think I’ll ever truly “grow up.”  This year I plan to embrace getting older, getting smarter, getting better. I think it’s important to focus on growing as a person each year and those little numbers just seem to feel pretty insignificant.

For me, a whole lot has happened in the second half of my 20s. The first was pretty standard, I graduated college, got a job, a boyfriend, a dog. Life was pretty ordinary.

That’s when I learned so much about myself. I learned I don’t like ordinary. I want and need so much more than ordinary. So I threw all that to the wind and started over. Haha, not really, I would never get rid of sweet Romeo! 😉 But in reality I didn’t love where life was taking me so I changed it and I couldn’t be happier! My college degree has nothing to do with what I do now, I quit my 9-5 job for a 24/7 “job” (more like lifestyle) that I L-O-V-E and for the first time feel like I’ve found a life that’s perfectly me.

“For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again.” ― Eric Roth

Taking leaps of faith and following your heart is what makes this life worth living and I’m so thankful for all the adventures of my 20s! The good, the bad, the hard, the harder, the easy and most of all, the fun!  I’ve learned so much about myself and can’t wait to take on 28 with a big smile and a happy heart! Cheers!

Heart

“May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young”
– Bob Dylan
